Supernatural Inspired Angel Wing Earrings

I'm using EnviroTex Jewelry Clay to whip up some 3D angel wings inspired by the show Supernatural.

Season 9 is starting tonight and after the finale last season I am eager to see what happens next!

To make these I used: EnviroTex Jewelry Clay, wax paper, gloves, baby powder, a rolling pin, PearlEx Powder, clay tools, toothpicks, scissors, and a printed out image.

I printed out the image 4 times.
I cut out the original image and removed a layer of feathers with each of the next 3 copies.

Cover your work area with wax paper.
Put on your gloves.
Coat surface with baby powder.
Mix up a small batch of EnviroTex Jewelry Clay.

Roll the clay out to about 1/8 or 1/16 inch thick.
Starting with the original image, trace around each image with a clay knife or exacto knife.

With the largest piece on the bottom, stack each tracing trying to line up the top edge.

Once they are all stacked, smooth the outer edges sealing the layers of clay together.
This is also the time to do any touch ups or add detail work if desired.

Make sure to poke a hole with a toothpick where you want to add the jump ring to the piece.

I'm coloring my angel wings with PearlEx Powder by Jacquard in Silver 663.
PearlEx works wonderfully with jewelry clay!
You can see all the colors they make here: http://www.jacquardproducts.com/pearl-ex-pigments.html

Brush on a thin layer of PearlEx Powder to color the piece.

Let these dry overnight.

Once these have hardened we can turn them into earring with some earring hoops, jump rings, and pliers.

Attach the jump rings to the hole created by the toothpick and use a second jump ring to connect the earring hooks.
I could see these working for Christmas too!
