Fall-ow me into Autumn Day 2 Dandelion in Wooden Bezel

Thanks for joining my for Day 2 of Fall-ow me into Autumn!
Today's project is necklace made with a dried dandelion in a wooden bezel:

The flower was dried using borax, which can be found in the laundry detergent section!

To start I used EasyCast Resin, Mod Podge, wooden bezel, and the dried flower.

Seal the bottom and sides of the bezel with Mod Podge to prevent discoloration of the wood.

 

 While that is drying clip the stem off of the flower and mix up a batch of resin...

Fill the bezel about half full...

Stick the flower in and finish filling the bezel. Be sure to cover the entire flower with a coat of the resin, it doesn't have to be fully submerged but it does need to be sealed with the resin.

 

 

Let this set to harden for 24-72 hours.

 

 To turn it into a necklace I'm using E-6000, a necklace, pliers, bail and jump ring.

 

I'm using an Aanraku Silver Leaf Medium Bail. Aanraku has loads of pieces that work perfectly with resin! You can check out what they offer here: http://store.abasg.com/mm5/merchant.mvc

Add a dab of E-6000 to the bail...

 

 Firmly press to the back of the bezel and let set for 24 hours to get maximum adhesion.

 

Attach the bezel to the necklace with a jump ring and you have a little bit of nature to usher in the new season!
