Fall-ow me into Autumn Day 1 plus a New Giveaway!

Thanks for joining me for Day 1 of Fall-ow me into Autumn!
Winner and New Giveaway info at the bottom of the post :)

For the first project I've made an electric colored acorn zipper pull!

Today's project is made with EnviroTex Jewelry Clay! This is an awesome, easy-to-use, product that has the strength of resin but is as simple to work with as Play-doh!

When working with jewelry clay you need to wear some gloves and coat your work surface with some wax paper!
Also, powder your surface with some baby powder or cornstarch like you would for cookies.

Jewelry clay is a 2 part product that is mixed in a 1 to 1 ratio.

Take 1 part of A (the gray) and an equal amount of B (the white).
The best way I've found is by rolling them into balls and adding or subtracting until the balls are the same size.

Now knead the two balls together until you reach a uniform color.  Once mixed you have up to 2 hours to work with the clay.

The piece I made for today is made using Aanraku Silver Smart Pulls. Aanraku has loads of pieces that work perfectly with resin and jewelry clay! You can check out what they offer here: http://store.abasg.com/mm5/merchant.mvc

Take the jewelry clay and press it directly into the metal piece.

Smooth out the top (a paint brush damp with some water can help if you have creases from the gloves)

Press you focal piece directly into the clay. I'm using a pink acorn that I had previously made out of resin.

Sprinkle glitter over the exposed clay...

Lightly press it into the clay with a Q-tip to help it stick.

Let your piece set to cure for 24 hours to harden completely and brush off the excess glitter.
While waiting be sure to clean the clay off of any tools or surfaces the clay may have gotten on- once it dries it is permanent!

The zipper pull has the 1-inch metal bezel and a wire loop...

The wire goes through the loop of a zipper piece (you can clip of the existing pull with some wire cutters)

There is a hole on the bezel piece that the loop ends go into to hold it on. Press the loop ends in until you feel a click and then it is locked together.

This would be super cute on a hoodie! For demo purposes I put it on my make up bag. It would also be great to personalize pencil cases and book bags!

Leave me a comment on the Giveaway Tab (or click here) to be entered to win a package of Aanraku Zipper Pulls!!

Contest is open until 9/22 I will announce the winner on Monday 9/23!
